Excellent coffee table books are essential, a must, no if ands or buts. Im in love with Andrew Macpherson 'Two Million Miles' so when I came across the new Marc Jacobs' celebrity photo book, VISIONAIRE 52 PRIVATE, I knew it may be love. Photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, with guest editor Marc Jacobs, collaborated on a series of intimate portraits of contemporary icons. For the past few years, they have traveled around the world to shoot subjects who inspire them, some as they’ve never been seen before. Marc Jacobs designed a limited-edition Louis Vuitton gold monogrammed case to house the large-format book of photographs. The provocative books subjects include actors Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, Selma Blair, Chloe Sevigny, Ludvine Sagnier, Lou Doillon, Lindsay Lohan, and Jamie Dornan; singers Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Lil’ Kim, Mariah Carey and Courtney Love; fashion designers Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney; models Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Christy Turlington, Natalia Vadianova and Gemma Ward; New York City Ballet principle dancer/choreographer Benjamin Millepied to name a few of the people whom Mert and Marcus have captured in their private moments. Would love to see more from this book... I'll never be able to pony up $400 for a copy, but I'd love to have a chance to look it over for an hour or two.
