multiple thoughts leading up to the reason for the post...round of thoughts #1: - somewhere around 1999-2000, a lost teenager: i love my miss sixty jeans!!! love love love. my diesels are def moving to #2 on my go to denim list. these are definitely going to increase my best dressed votes. oohh maybe ill wear them after the football game friday.
round of thoughts #2: - fast forward to winter of 2007, im driving past the miss sixty store, located in prime retail space - directly across the street from fred segal, checking to see if it is still open for sales: who still shops there?! and how do they afford rent?!?
round of thoughts #3 - early fall 2007, driving past the miss sixty store, i find myself pleasantly surprised to see jessica stams face plastered all over the store front as part of their fall/winter 2007-08 ad campaign: ill admit it, impressed by the model choice, miss sixty has superficially bought back some of my distaste. i bet they are undergoing a brand reinvention.
round of thoughts #4 - one week later, driving past the miss sixty store anxiously awaiting freshly fashionable windows: unfortunately the only thing fashionable on this corner is fred segals staple ivy covered walls. maybe next season but i wont hold my breath. i seriously need some coffee, why isnt there a starbucks on crescent?
round of thoughts #5 - late fall 2007 at the nylon/miss sixty party hosted by cory kennedy: does a. nylon and b. cory kennedy really want any affiliation with miss sixty or were they bought and for how much? its not that miss sixty is a bad brand and chances are cory wears some of the miss sixty pieces (that she probably gets for free) but arguably nylon and cory are too hip for the brand. i bet that the most cory and miss sixty have in common is jessica stam.
round of thoughts #6: - this morning, i ran into photos of anne hathaway, chloë sevigny, ashley olsen and milla jovovich at the miss sixty fashion show: i cant believe they attended the show! i wouldnt question it if was just milla, she just did have a baby and could use the press but anne, chloë, asheley and milla? they all have so much fashion credibility, do they really like miss sixty? i contemplate for a few minutes and decide that miss sixty must do really well internationally which allows them to pay for the rent on crescent, for jessica stams fees, to sponsor the nylon party and to pay celebs to show up at their events. The reason for the post: the build up was just sort of necessary but the real reason is to share this article from nymag which made me feel so much better about anne hathaway, chloë sevigny, ashley olsen and milla jovovich attending:
"Chloë Sevigny — who, let's be honest, seems like she would rather eat deep-fried cockroaches than wear Miss Sixty — animatedly chatted with Ashley Olsen, even giving A-O's outfit an approving nod despite the fact that we thought Ash looked a wee bit disheveled (so, business as usual for her, basically). Ashley did, however, seem way more animated than you'd expect from a woman who slouches out of her house wearing six to seven layers every day; she was even swapping several jokes with Jovovich. We admit to wondering what the three of them were even doing there, frankly. All of those women are known for having a distinct personal style that doesn't seem to align with the Miss Sixty look, and if any of them wanted to revamp their image, they each have their own clothing lines. It honestly felt like a weird fit.
Chloë and Milla seemed to agree with us. We can't even vouch for whether their reactions to the clothes were justified, because we were too enthralled with their array of facial expressions to pay any attention to what the models were actually wearing. First of all, if you get the chance to play poker with Milla Jovovich, do it. That girl cannot keep a straight face. Throughout, she seemed to be making a running commentary to Olsen and Paula Patton; she burst out laughing once or twice and acted particularly perplexed — even, one might say, horrified — by a huge pair of fringed mukluks. Meanwhile, the look on Sevigny's face devolved from "blank but pleasant" to "kinda grossed out," and we haven't seen that kind of golf clap at a show's conclusion since … well, since the perfunctory applause at Rock & Republic last night, but still, it was surprising. We've seen Big Love. We know she's a better actor than that." Read the full article: nymag
so, does anyone know what is really going on with miss sixty? how do they do internationally? does anyone still buy miss sixty?
sorry miss sixty - ill always remember the 99-00 days and im alwaysopen to the idea of a revamp.

This is...the most depressing thing I have ever read. Not the Miss 60 part...
but the authenticity of the high school geri-inner-voice - in contrast to the new, "Wall-Street-Journal-on-Phen-Fen," Geri-inner-voice - made me realize that one can never go home again.
Oh, buck up! Great article...lets buy Miss 60!
I ALWAYS THINK THAT WHEN I PASS THE STORE TOO! WHO DOES SHOP THERE? LOVED THE NYMAG ARTICLE. GREAT POST!
Geri,
Miss 60 is EVERYWHERE in Europe - especially all over Italy. I know, I know, it's weird for us over here in the good ol' US of A, but for some reason, they are in love with the stuff over there
it is big in europe but i agree that its terrible and they probably did pay them a lot to show up
Miss Sixty does it well here in Europe yes. I absolutely dislike the the brand, but there are always enough girls who only do labeldressing and buy the stuff...
