prepare for a rant...like every wednesday i caught up on my celeb gos thanks to jezebel. they take the liberty of reading all the gossip rags so that we dont have to! so sweet, right? amongst all the addicting and oh so bitchy tabloids 'star' plastered cottage cheese legs on their cover to promote the '55 best & worst beach bodies!' feature. man, if you were going to be 56,57, 58, 59 or 60 of the worst bodies you really lucked out! this cover made me wonder, why is the flab leg the largest image in the collage? do they think we are more inclined to grab the mag if the bodies on the cover console our ben & jerrys chunky monkey, doritos and oreo klondike purchases while checking out at the grocery?
anywho, when i saw this cover it hit a nerve, cellulite has been on my mind in a serious way. im 24, a petite girl, comfortable with my bod but no matter what i do i have a bit of cellulite. it never really bothered me until recently when the media started zooming in on young girls and any ounce of fat caught on camera. the attention these fat cells were attracting started to make me wonder if cellulite wasnt as common as i thought...until saturday. we went to a pool party on top of a swanky los angeles hotel which means lots of hot slashies (actors slash models), skin, itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikinis and you guessed it, cellulite! literally every single girl, even the hottest and most ano, had a dimple here and there. i was shocked, happy to be brought back to body reality and pleasantly surprised. im not alone and either are any of you (if this pertains to you and if not today perhaps and regretfully so maybe one day it will)! it turns out that just like we all have 2 eyes, many of us girls actually have fat cells that mush together and morph into not so pretty jumbled areas.
after saturday i came to terms with the fact that victoria secret models are not human, that photoshop has really messed with our heads and that most girls have cellulite. yay for being human! for whatever reason the media enjoys making us feel bad about ourselves and they focus on imperfections. the funny thing is, the people writing this garbage probably do it while sitting on their dimpled rears shoving their faces with buckets of friend chicken while slurping coca colas. we dont care about mischa bartons thighs and britneys roller coasting weight so get your greasy kfc fingers off the keyboard and give it up! you're too harsh on realism!
girl power!

Your blog is so much fun! I love love love it!
This post is so great! I too suffer from those little pockets of cellulite even though I'm a small person and even though my brain knows that every last magazine picture is photoshopped, my eyes always forget and I get into a tizzy. So happy to know that I am not the only one who feels this way and that everyone else is not perfect either. Media moguls be damned!
Right on!
Eeeexactly.
i agree. bagging on cellulite isn't much of a story imo. a much more interesting story would be the environmental toxins in which cause cellulite.
coming from someone guilty of constant celeb snark (aka bashing), tabloid = moron.
Yea! Hear, hear! Long live realism. Great post- I couldn't agree more!
sweetheart, I'm so happy you wrote this. I was at a BBQ this past weekend and a few actresses were there and it really was frustrating having to hear skinny skinny 20something year old girls complaining about their cellulite. I just sat there in silence because I was so SAD that this was a topic of conversation. I was thinking about writing about it also but I didn't know how to put it. Well done.
I know, why does the media have to screw everyone up? Seriously whats wrong with them!? It is easy to forget that everything is photoshopped, good post, we all need to get snapped back to reality sometimes!
You are a very diplomatic girl thank God you were kind and didnt include my age!Love you !LOL
You can always be counted upon to tell the truth!
Great post.
It's genetic. No amount of dieting or exercise will get rid of cellulite. Only lipo will take it away.
And who cares? Why should we hate something we can't control? People are human, after all. There's no such thing as perfection.
Love your blog! You have a great way of writing.
You are a genious!
The media are good at airbrushing those who are 'in' at the moment and then leaving photos as they are for people who are currently 'not in'-cellulite is with us all, unfortunately!
I couldn't agree more! If it wouldn't make me sound like a 30-year-old gym teacher I'd be shouting "You go girl!". Screw photoshop, let's embrace normal.

This is realism!
:-)
In the real world people have cellulite. Its sad how airbrushing has made the public forget this! Good post.
At 24 I am so happy with my body, cellulite and all. Why even worry about something that is covered up for 95% of your life anyway??
I hate magazines! I think I have said that so many times. I am tiny and I have cellulite.
It's a fact of life, people are meant to have meat. People are not meant to be STICK skinny.
I use to work as make-up artist assistant on fashion shoots and it really woke me up. I was once asked if this did damage to my own self esteem- but it did the exact opposite! They were mostly high end type models and all look liked rubbish (with the exeption of one-Anja Rubik looked friggin amazing in real life as well as on camera) before hair, make-up and photoshop sorted them out. And none of them eat!!! I'm not joking. Most would order salads then not even eat them and instead go have a cigarette. Believe me, they looked so emaciated and awful in real life, I was so happy to be eating the burger provided.
Great post! I just wanted to add, I'm 23, 5'5", weigh around 100 lbs, size 0, etc, everything everyone wants except for the height, and I have cellulite and varicose veins.
1) Jezebel is awesome.
2) I completely agree. Airbrushing is a tool of the devil designed to give women low self-esteem. Victoria's Secret models have cellulite too. All it takes is those un-tampered with photos to remind us that even the most perfect celebrity has a little bit of imperfection dotted here and there along their thighs.
One thing I love about your blog is that you take risks and go out on the skinny branches to be honest about reality!Thank -You!You help a lot of people!

im so happy with the positive reaction to this post and couldnt agree more with everyone!! thank you for the great comments!!
amen sister!
The Victoria's Secret girls go to extreme lengths to smooth out any dimples or 'inconveniences' before their fashion show, so the effects are only temporary (for the show only).
And I think the pictures in the tabloid mag are kind of exaggerated. Don't u think? They probably do have cellulite, but not that much! I dont work out, and I'm no skinny minnie, but even I dont have that much flab and dimples!
Yeah! Thanks, I think I needed that.

btw, I did a post on my site about this because I really agree with your stance on this. I linked it to your site. I hope that's ok.
