that time is now! as of just recently they launched a jewerly section which includes necklaces($48) and bracelets ($20). all the pieces are made of solid metal and then gold-plated.
i personally think that $48 for a necklace that forever carries for $5.90 is a bit steep but ill keep an open mind. i wonder how long it will be until they sell shoes...
thoughts?

I noticed this when I was in the store on Saturday, and I couldn't help thinking that the necklaces (and sunglasses, too) were a little expensive for what they are. When it comes to vintage or repurposed items, I always am looking for it to be cheap though.
I don't like the jewlery that much, but I don't hate it either. It looks a bit skeevy...if that even makes sense.
Very blingy and 80s-not sure if that's a good or bad thing really!!
hey it looks really cool, I think Im going to americanapparel later this week, but I don't think I could pull off big chained necklaces. hm.
cool! According to The Coveted the also started selling vibrators...I thought shoes would come first. ;)
hehe, just waned to write what shay said before me. i like that they try to expand their collection, not sure if i like the jewelry, though. the vibrator on the other hand... :)
I feel like since Urban sells the same kind of novelty jewelry styles for similar prices (that are often more than double that of comparable Forever 21 styles, but sometimes better quality), but actually has SALES--whereas I've been told, at least at my AA location, that AA does not have in-store sales--I'm more inclined to buy those kinds of kitschy pieces elsewhere, for that price. If it's Tiffany's it's one thing, but I personally would never get enough wear out of a guido necklace to spring $48 for it.
I sawoome of the jewelry in the store and I think I'd rather go to f21 for my fake jewelry and pay $8 than spend $48 on something that may last me two weeks longer. But they do look pretty fly.
And if they're not seling shoes by the end of '08, I'll be very surprised.
yeah you can get a chain like that for a lot less... but I do love the clothes:)
I feel that you could just go to the craft store, buy a some chains they sell by the yard and make something very similar to what AA sells. Or... You can go to F21 like you said. hah
Um.. not really digging the chains. Looks like pimp jewelry. And way too expensive.
yeah i think i'll stick to forever for some fun jewelry.
exciting!
as if i saw a necklace like that (the last one). now i regret not buying it
Reminds me of Mr. T. "I pitty the fo who spends $40 on a AA necklace." :)
Right when I was about to complain about the jewelry being high priced, you said it for me. :]
I'm sure the necklaces & bracelets will look fabulous, but I refuse to spend that much money for something that might turn colors anyway. ;/
Eh, it's American Apparel, they do what they want and I love them for it. They necklaces are fun and all, but not really my style. I actually like the deadstock glasses they sell.
I agree with you. Forever has spoiled me to such an extreme, that I now compare EVERYTHING to their dirt-cheap prices. It's sad, really. But I'm interested in seeing AA's jewelry line... they might have something new to offer me.
Woah, yeah I think they are a little too expensive. They just can't compete with the cheap stuff! Especially when there is no noticeable difference.
i definitely have to check this out when i go to AA tonight (yay!) i wonder what the quality's like
AP is also selling a Japanese limited edition vibrator. haha.. Wonder where exactly are they going to put that next to-shoes? bras?
Definitely intrigued, but I agree that the price is too steep (though I would sell a pinkie for some Erin Wasson pieces). My, they are good at that marketing though.
hm, i would have preferred shoes ... though those probably would have been insaney expensive.
$72 for a pair of stinky worn loafers.

LOVE the bling! Ditto on the sunnies at the store. I'm going there wednesday before my trip!! YAY~
eh, i'm not a huge fan of the jewlery. It seems a bit cheap to me. I found a website that has some amazing vintage pieces though. Pretty well priced too. check it out:

really cute earrings.
sweeet!
it looks a little gangstah online.
Yeah, I am the same - I just don't spend too much money on jewelry I could get at 1/4 the price. Mostly because I get tired of it very easily. Why invest in something you know you'll wear only a few times?
I'm with you on the steep price bit, I'll stick to my cheap-o shops for chunky gold chain necklaces.

the neckless doing the hole outfit for an evening
These are just too "hip" and scene for me...how about actually showcasing real jewelry?
Ha-ha, I meant that towards AA, not you. Because I do like this blog post, I wouldn't have known about this otherwise. I hope I didn't imply you didn't showcase real jewelry...^_-
I agree, their jewelery seems a little too expensive for my liking. I'll stick with Forever 21!
$48 does seem a bit steep, but maybe they'll be on sale at some point?
if they started making shoes, i'm pretty sure i would die.
i like it!that chan-necklace looks cool!
I think it's a cool concept and they probably will branch out into even more accessories. But, the price is way too high. Esp. considering that I have that exact array of necklaces and got them all at H&M a couple of years ago for about $15.
its about time!!!
No way i buying that stuff for $48.
i totally agree when i seen the jewelry on their internet i was like omg not worth it, but then went i went into the store today i was really convinced that they were not worth forty plus..please can go somewhere else and get jewelry similiar, for a lower price.
Nice post..! Designer jewelry is very popular all over America.
