Loving Val's 'Tom Binns diy necklace', not pictured but it dazzles similarly to this.
I saw Tom speak at the Hammer Museum Monday (along with Sally Singer, fashion features and news editor at Vogue, Kate Mulleavy from Rodarte, Adriano Goldshmied of AG and Christina Kim but more on that later, i swwwearz, so behind) and he blurted out, "There are a lot of thieves in fashion!"
So Tom, if you consider a do-it-yourself project theft, I apologize, it's just a reinterpretation made with a lot of love.

So true, whatever designer that gets 'thieved' with DIY should be glad that their design is coveted by the public and by us doing DIYs they gain more popularity...it's another promotion method, they should know ;)

I think I agree with Tom Binns. Sometimes it sucks when someone copies your hard work. But I don't think DIY is bad, because its just a reinterpretation of someone's work, and not a knock-off.
A DIY is definitely not project theft! If it's for personal learning, growth, and exploration, I'm all for it! I recently made a necklace and it happens to be rather Tom Binns-esque. He's going to kill me!
