vena cava: garage sale and resort 2011

Vena Cava is like your older, wiser and cooler sister whose closet you want to raid.

I’ll never forget the time I attempted to “borrow” my sister’s favorite Contempo shirt and got caught by shrinking it down to toddler size. Unfortunately for me, it was during her Alanis Morissette “Jagged Little Pill” phase so naturally she compared the shrinkage the day before her big date to “Ironic” and when I denied it she went into a screaming rendition of “Right Through You’s” chorus. We were theater kids….

She then proceeded to ignore my presence, hide my beeper and hung up on anyone who called for me. Full House was so NOT accurate when it came to sister relationships.

If Vena Cava were in fact an older sister, or two rather – Sophie and Lisa- hopefully they’d avoid closet altercations by hooking me up with everything from their garage sale and/or beyond wearable resort collection (pictured above). Or at the very least, they would not hide my beeeepa.

More on Vena Cava’s resort collection:
Travels and obscure movie references are frequent starting points for Vena Cava’s Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, and their latest effort was no exception. A road trip to Death Valley and the (OK, maybe not quite so obscure, at least in fashion circles) 1970 flick Zabriskie Point influenced the dusty orange and yellow palette of their Resort collection, as well as the sweet Southwestern-style prints. An overall-style silk jumpsuit was a standout, as was a seventies-workwear-inspired chambray vest.” – style.com

  1. Oh man… I loved reading that. I’m experiencing that now with my brother. He enjoys stealing tanks from my closet and not giving them back. Or if he does they come back with cigarette burns -___- yikes!

If you get hooked up with Vena Cava – pass a little my way

  2. aww, that’s terrible! I guess I’m kind of glad I don’t have a sister … I did, however, throw a shoe at my brother’s face when we were little, oops.

And all those clothes from Vena Cava are exquisite. So wearable! I love that!!
