Back in 2008 I flew to New York for my first blog related magazine photo shoot and let me tell you, it felt like the biggest deal! Blogs weren't what they are today; girls weren't front row at couture shows, modeling contracts were unheard of and features in magazines were far and few between.
Picked up by a fancy blacked-out Escalade and greeted by a full team, I gave it my all. We shot for two hours: hair, make-up, multiple looks, a fan, the whole shabang. I even rocked my best air guitar.
Naturally, I could not contain myself and told everyone and their moms (I even posted on facebook, ew). Of course my grandparents immediately bragged shared the news (grandchild competition is on a whole other level) and it didn't stop there. My mom blasted her network, my best friends mom bought the perfect frame and before I knew it I was getting emails and calls and text messages and and and.
About three months later I got an email saying that the article was pulled from the magazine and it would never run. I was completely mortified. I mean, my grandma's friends were buying every issue. I got over the let down and promised myself never to talk about blog related anything until it launched and have pretty much stuck to it.
Low and behold, it's now 2010 and the pictures from one of the looks just popped up in my in-box! So here they are Nonnie, Papa, mom, Mrs. Moennich and friends! They may not have run in a huge print publication but they landed prime placement on this old blog.
A few more after the jump...

Hellllo, Burberry Prorsum A/W 10-11 boots!
How astronaut-bouncing-on-the-moon-meets-snow-boarder-eskimo-cross-country-skiing-high-fashion are the bottom pair (which also come in a shorter version)?
And can we talk about the major return of the pointy-toe? How do we feel about it?

Braids, braids, so pretty if you can do them.
I will never forget the pain from those mandatory dance team cornrows. Whose idea was that anyway?

A project called 'How Many Billboards? Art in Stead' is replacing billboard ads around Los Angeles with wonderful works of art. There will be 21 total all by different artists.
Awesome, wonderful, cool.

Mix. Match. Frame those McQueen platforms. Color your hair. Rock a $74,000 Balmain coat. No big deal.

Having grown up in a Jewish home, bacon was somewhat of a mystery. And ham? I didn't even know ham existed.
When assigned the 'Pan Fried Mango and Pork Pot-stickers' in the "Starters" portion of our culinary program I sort of gagged. I had never cooked pork, but figured that if food is the key to a man’s heart I'll need to get comfortable with the idea. Besides, I wasn't there to learn how to make Bruschetta.

Order of the top row: Lilacism, Neo Whimsical, Pop Art Pink, Nouveau Red, Tart Deco, Van D’go.
Lilac! Totally takes me back to middle school days and my love affair with 'Hard Candy' and all those little jelly rings. Do you guys remember those?
I love freaking nail polish.

Wearing Whyred Seraphi Dress and Balenciaga boots.
It's 9:30 and your friends are picking you up in 15 minutes. You wash your face in a rush, then head over to the closet when it hits you: that dreaded "I have nothing to wear" feeling that can send you into the twilight zone. If you're lucky, you may have a roommate or sibling whose closet can alleviate the pain; but otherwise, sometimes all it takes is purchasing one single new item.
My most recent one-piece-revamp came resulted from a closet freak out when I needed something a little dressier and felt like everything that would fit the bill looked like it fell off a 1994 donation truck. I don't care what they say, the "timeless" little black dress doesn't always make you feel current.
I ran over to Revolve knowing that I would undoubtedly solve my crisis there and after purchasing this Whyred Seraphi Dress, I was released from my tizzy. A little black dress with a certain je ne sais quoi which works with over-the-knee boots, sky high heels, flat ankle boots and/or ballet flats, tights, various jackets and simply just with a t-shirt to showcase the cut of the hem. I have been able to count on this number time and time again; if it were a friend, I would buy it a drink for all the recent support.

"As the show began, spotlights picked out the designer and Duffy teared brown construction paper from a wood frame structure at the back of the Armory. The paper duly removed, all 56 models were revealed, standing in formation on the raised platform and staring back at the audience.
With "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" ringing out from Frederic Sanchez's soundtrack, the first girl took to the runway. The show played like a nostalgia trip, one so lovely it was quite easy to be seduced." - style.com

I could use a stamp in my passport, a pina colada in hand and wind blowing through my hair. Surfing and a live band on the beach would be a plus.
