recipes & idea: bon appétit’s food lover’s cleanse

Juice cleanses. Everyone's doing them. Everyone's starving.

So what is one to do if they want to cleanse but can't stomach the thought of a grumbling tummy?

That's where 'Bon Appétit’s 2012 Food Lover’s Cleanse' comes in. The two-week healthy cooking challenge outlines 14 days of meals (shopping list and all) including breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack AND dessert for each day. And the best part - almost every dish looks delicious (did you see the pictures above?!!) and the recipes are totally doable.

Pumpkin-Shrimp Curry, Braised Clams and Soba Noodles, Coconut Tofu with Bok Choy and Ginger Quinoa, Chocolate Sesame Seed Bark, I mean! If you're not into the idea of a "cleanse" the recipes are still a total must!

Check it out:

i have to say it does all look really good, now if I just had that personal chef to whip it all up for me, does the magazine come with that??

I'm currently on this cleanse and there are a few drawbacks...

The biggest one being that it is EXPENSIVE. The first week's shopping list set me back nearly $600 and there were a handful of items that I didn't get (cause I already had them in my pantry).
My refrigerator has never seen sooooo much food. Thank goodness I have a full size fridge!

Other than that, the food IS really good. The portions they call out are a bit on the generous side but that's totally easy to remedy.

I hope next year that they will come up with a cleanse that is a bit more budget friendly.

I admit. I was looking at juice cleanses yesterday but a) they're expensive b) i don't want to be broke and c) I like eating.

I may try the bon a petit guide on the other hand. Real food and it looks delicious !

this looks really yummy, but omg it's expensive!!! who has $600 to drop on the first trip, not including the second week and other proteins and produce??

it's kinda ridiculous.

Hi guys! I didn't realize how hefty the price tag was when I posted about this cleanse BUT I definitely think there's room to improvise. I'm going to cut this down to 7 days, dissect the recipes and shopping list and only use recipes where there's overlapping ingredients. I'm determined to drop this price WAY down. Will keep you posted!

This doesn't look very expensive to me, especially if you shopped someplace like Trader Joe's and replaced some of the pricier ingredients with a cheaper alternative. Like the salmon, for example. I personally can't stand tofu or fish, but some of these dishes look downright delicious! Like the oranges and chocolate, mmmm.

Love, love, love. I hate anything that involves drinking my meals.

Something about biting into real food makes life so much better.

Thanks for sharing!

This looks good other than the link goes to a blank page. The best I can find on this website is a calendar and a shopping list but not a link to the actual recipes. Help?
