Mornings set the tone for your day, so it’s important to make them as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. Creating an attainable morning routine is the best way to ensure you start your day off right. Not an early riser? Start setting your alarm clock 15-20 minutes earlier than you normally do to help introduce healthy habits to your routine. Rushing is never fun, so don’t be overly ambitious by trying to fit too many things in at once. Small steps!

Here are 5 simple ways you can better your morning and a video to go along with it:

1. Oil Pulling
This is an ancient Ayurveda practice that has an incredible amount of benefits. Sure, it takes about 15-20 minutes to do, but it’s pretty easy to incorporate while you’re fixing up your bed, doing leftover dishes, or picking out your outfit. Spoiler: Benefits include teeth whitening, gut health, revved up metabolism, hangover cure and bad breath. Hooked yet? Watch a video on how to do it here.

2. Yoga
There’s almost no better way to wake your body up than with some form of exercise. I love yoga because it’s not too intense for the morning, but still waking up my muscles and joints. Yoga is also great because it helps you center yourself before you fill your day with conference calls and e-mails. There are tons of at-home yoga videos to help you learn here.

3. Homemade Green Tea Face Wash
This revitalizing face scrub is one of my all-time favorites. It’s super simple (I mean, only 2 ingredients!) and leaves my skin feeling completely clean and soft. Homemade beauty products are the best because you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin, no mystery ingredients.

4. Healthy Breakfast
Breakfast is most definitely the most important meal of the day. By skipping breakfast, you haven’t given your body and mind a chance to wake up (not to mention you haven’t started up your metabolism yet either). I try avoiding really heavy, greasy meals (and save those for the weekends!) and keep it healthy with a fiber- and protein-packed dish. Greek yogurt and these breakfast bowls are great options.

 5. Fresh Juice
Getting a full serving of vegetables and fruits in before I head out for the day is a great feeling. Depending on what you juice, certain produce has amazing powers of energizing and alkalizing the body – sometimes I don’t even need coffee! To watch my favorite juice recipes, head right this way.
