What Is Bone Broth And Why Are People Drinking It?

Following behind hot lemon water and green juice, the latest liquid getting tons of attention in the wellness world is bone broth.

Bone broth is made from roasted bones that usually still have meat attached. Like standard broth or stock, bone broth is simmered, but bone broth differs by staying simmered for wayyy longer (around 24 hours!).

Letting the bones cook more releases tons of good-for-you vitamins, minerals and healing compounds—like amino acids, collagen and magnesium—in an easily-digestible way. These nutrients are said to help the body detox and aid with digestion, boost the immune system, and soothe stomach and joint pain. Gelatin from the bones also helps to promote healthy skin, nails and hair…um, yes please!
You can cook your own, but for a quick wellness dose, you can also use a store-bought version like I did with this organic one. To create:

1. Pour broth into pot and warm it up on the stove.
2. Once warm, pour into a drinking cup.
3. Garnish with a bit of a salt and pepper.

Drink up!

Have you tried bone broth? Thoughts on it?
