January Clean Beauty Update

When I read that Nordstrom was opening a “Clean Beauty” department, I broke out into song. This is huge! A giant leap for mankind! Or at least I like to hope it is. As passionate as I am about clean beauty and finding wonderful new products, it’s still not easy. With brands like Nords dedicating sections to the movement, it’s going to get a whole lot easier to reach my clean beauty #goals.

Meanwhile, here’s an update on the clean products I’ve researched, hunted down, got my hands on and am now loving:

1. Juice Beauty PHYTO-PIGMENTS Illuminating Primer
I was at a Juice Beauty event with Gwyneth Paltrow and she gushed saying this is her favorite product. I followed suit because, well, Gwyneth.

2. Erbaviva Organic Firming Oil
This nutrient-rich base of avocado and olive oil infused with organic essential oils naturally encourages cell regeneration and promotes skin elasticity. Pretty much what I’m going for RN.

3. GOOP Instant Facial
On my life and without fail, I get compliments on my skin the day after I use this. Natural alpha and beta hydroxy acids sweep away dead skin cells; and plant-based cellulose beads exfoliate further, while releasing soothing vitamin B5, leaving skin supple, soft, and utterly revitalized. And the good clean beauty news, it’s formulated with USDA-certified organic ingredients.

4. “Un” Cover-up by RMS Beauty
Certified organic, made of coconut oil, beeswax, cocoa, jojoba and other natural ingredients, this concealer is completely lightweight and hydrating to the skin. I use the lightest color to brighten up underneath my eyes and a darker color to conceal blemishes. It’s a 10!

5. Josh Rosebrook
Clean shampoo and conditioner are not really my thing. I haven’t found one that I LOVE but this one by Josh Rosebrook is pretty good once you get used to the aloe consistency. Worth giving it a shot if you’re on the lookout!

6. Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil
On my most luxurious of slow mornings, I dry-skin brush, shower, and cover my body in this rosehip oil. And on the most luxurious of evenings, I light a candle, fill up my tub with hot water, epsom salt and this nourishing rosehip oil. It does wonders when it comes to skin hydration and a little goes a long way.

7. Provinence Apothecary Full Brow Serum
Do you dream about bolder brows? I most certainly do and this serum is an excellent natural remedy to help fortify hair growth and encourage fuller looking brows. Blended with powerful and active pure botanical extracts and anti-oxidants, the nutritive blend may get you one step closer to Cara Delevingne status—without the chemicals.

8. Juice Beauty Instant Eye Lift Algae Mask
I’ve tried dozens and dozens of under eye masks and rarely think they make a difference. This, on the other hand, WORKS. I think it’s because the pure marine algae eye masks don’t come drenched in the magical formula, the magic (the STEM CELLULAR™ Activator Fluid) comes in a bottle alongside the algae and when you’re ready for use, you soak the pads and apply at their highest level of potency. I’ve ordered these five times and they come in packs of six to give you a sense of how much I love them.

9. No tox life in Cello
This is a big favorite around the LEAF office. So much so that it’s in our clean beauty box (which you can order here). I’m not big on deodorant but this is one I can get behind.

What clean beauty products are you loving? What else should I try?! Please share!

  1. Love your blog! Thanks for mentioning the amazing Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Illuminating Primer. I followed Gwyneth’s advice and often just mix it with my moisturizer for an amazing glow. Those coconut alkanes (instead of silicones) do the trick!–Karen Behnke, Founder
