Cold and flu season…YUCK! Chances are, you or someone around you is sick which is no fun, no fun at all.

This spicy detoxifying tonic made simply with water, cayenne, apple cider vinegar and honey is an excellent way to hydrate, fight inflammation and boost your immune system all at the same time.

Each ingredient has impactful benefits (listed below the recipe) to help cure a common cold, alleviate sinus pressure and fight an oncoming flu. If you’re feeling any of those, get a sippin’! Here’s how to make it:

RECIPE: Cold & Flu Wellness Tonic

Grab:
3/4 cup hot water
4 tbsp raw organic apple cider vinegar (I like this one)
1 tbsp raw honey
1/8-1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (or more if you can handle it)

Make:
Heat water, combine ingredients, stir, sip, feel good!

BENEFITS:

Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar:
Apple cider vinegar helps alkalinize the body, and creating an alkaline environment helps kill bacteria and viruses.

Cayenne Pepper:
Cayenne pepper aids in breaking up and moving congested mucus. Once mucus begins to leave the body, relief from flu symptoms generally follows. It also increases the pulse of our lymphatic and digestive rhythms. By heating the body, the natural process of detoxification is streamlined causing us to sweat, another important process of detoxification.

Honey:
Honey contains antioxidant, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties that fight against the virus, bacteria, and fungus to treat the cold and its underlying symptoms. It helps to soothe a sore or scratchy throat naturally and relieves irritation.

p.s. if you’re sick this stuffy nose herbal face steam may do you some good, too!

  2. Ok, **research this** Chilli peppers contain inflammatory agents.

Ginger and cloves on the other hand, are preferable due to anti inflammatory properties.

From experience, Cloves are excellent pain killers also, especially for sore throats. (ground, steep 1/2 tsp with 1/2 tsp salt for 5 minutes in 1/2 glass hot water) – gargle throughout the day.

  3. Apple cider vinegar is such a cure-all, it’s seriously amazing. I know people who drink a tablespoon every day of their lives. Love the addition of the cayenne, nothing clears out the sinuses like some hot pepper!
