The Benefits of Pink Himalayan Salt

BIA Wellness Challenge Pink Himalayan Salt
Salt aka sodium gets a bad rep (as it should), because eating too much of it can lead to all sorts of scary issues, like high blood pressure, strokes, obesity, heart disease, stomach cancer, etc etc. Plus, most salts on the market are full of toxins. Basically, too much table salt is not a good look—unless the right type is used correctly. Then it can actually be good for you!

I’m talking about Pink Himalayan Sea Salt.

Yup, it’s pink and beautiful and really beneficial! It’s also very pure/clean/balanced, much more so than regular table salt. It has no pollutants, toxins OR chemicals. It’s basically the much healthier version on most salt used in restaurants & recipes—and likely what’s in your cabinet right now. As I’ve heard more about PHSS and the long list of benefits, I’ve officially made the swap from regular table salt and I’m not looking back!

Challenge: Try Pink Himalayan Sea Salt

Not only does this type of salt have tons of minerals and trace elements (think magnesium, iron, copper) which makes it GOOD to eat in moderation, but it’s not putting such processed ingredients (like bleach!) into your system. PHSS also helps to balance your pH levels that can lead to stronger immune and digestive systems, can remove congestion, and supports the libido. Plus, it has electrolytes, so definitely swap it for table salt when making or eating food.

On top of it being a better choice for cooking, here are a few other ways to use PHSS:

  • Purify your air! Himalayan salt lamps are similar to humidifiers and can clean your air.
  • Detox with a salt bath. Just drop a couple tbsp of PHSS into your next bath to sooth muscles and remove toxins from your body.
  • Think about a salt water flush (obvi ask your doctor first!)

Willing to make the swap to pink?!

  1. Pink Himalayan Salt actually isn’t sea salt at all – it’s mined a few hundred miles inland in Pakistan!

Also, it may not contain any added chemicals, but to say it doesn’t contain any chemicals at all when you proceed to list several trace elements (aka chemicals) in addition to the Sodium and Chlorine that make it up is a bit disingenuous.

  2. It doesn’t hurt that it looks nice on your counter top either 😉

I haven’t tried it yet but I always think about buying it when I see it. Thanks for this post.. I knew that it was healthier than regular salt but now I know why!
