5 Books to Read This Spring

It’s no shocker that we’re big fans of books on this site, and judging by the response from past book round-ups, you guys are too.

Mix an admiration for books in with the fact that it’s rained for a month straight in California (or what feels like it), and I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately. Since I’m usually naturally unmotivated this time of year, I’ve been reaching for books that might spark something inside (read: get me off the couch and away from my Parenthood Netflix binge). Here’s what’s been circulating:

How to Get Sh*t Done by Erin Falconer

We’re big fans of Erin at this site, and her book did not disappoint. It’s actually the first productivity book based on women in over a decade, and it’s an updated look at how to prioritize and be productive in an intentional way. This book instantly lifted pressure off my shoulders and got me to shift priorities. I especially enjoyed the “homework” after each chapter. I find that so many times, I read a book and the info goes out the window within a week. This book makes you stop, think, and apply action. Genius!

The Food Therapist by Shira Lenchewski

You might have seen this book on an Instagram story from bloggers in the industry (including Geri!), as Shira is a contributor at many sites like goop. Her laid-back yet intentional approach to food and our relationship with food is refreshing, and this book is like a 1:1 with a therapist (hence the name). From emotional attachments to food to the root of our behaviors around meals, this taught me so much!

The Clarity Cleanse by Habib Sadeghi

I was hesitant to buy this book, as the consistent use of “12 Steps” and “emotional healing,” initially turned me off, but I’m glad I grabbed it. It’s beautifully written, mixed with science, psychology, and tactical ways to make positive changes in your own life. The book is aimed to provide more conscious clarity and energy (among other things), and I appreciated what it made me stop and question in my own life. This is something I’ll come back to whenever I’m feeling off.

Originals by Adam Grant

I first heard Adam Grant on a TED talk and thought he was an interesting guy. I also LOVED his thoughts on how we need more original thinkers in this world and how to think outside the box yourself. This book is filled with amazing stories on how non-conformists have gone on to be wildly successful, and steps you can consider in your life or career. It was unique and insightful.

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn

I cant remember the last time I read a book in under 48 hours, but I couldn’t put this down! If you’re more of a fiction type, I highly recommend digging into this one. It’ll take your mind for a ride and is a classic page-turner. Warning, you’re going to want to read this quick, so I’d suggest starting on a weekend. Also, if you know of books that are similar, let me know – I want more!
