The Newest Celebrity Wellness Trend. You Into It?

While not every wellness trend trickles down from the celebrity world, a lot of it does. From a model drinking celery juice on Instagram to the Kardashians talking about a new form of exercise and so on, it’s no shocker that celebs are often first to get their hands on the latest and greatest in the world of health. But the newest wellness “trend” hopping around A-listers is one we all have (free) access to: being sober.

Anne Hathaway is the most recent celeb to come out and say that she’s given up drinking – at least for the next 18 years. J Lo has also long-credited her ability to keep her energy up and look as good as she does to not drinking (among taking care of herself in general). Green juice and probiotics are the new champagne and molly at a lot of festivals – at least for some people in the spotlight.

While certain alcohol has health benefits like lowering stress and antioxidants, over-consumption is obviously a far cry from a healthy habit. Add in the hangovers that usually means shitty food, anxiety, and a lack of motivation, and we all know it can wreak havoc on good choices.

But is it something you’d give up for the name of health? Do the benefits of NOT drinking outweigh the pleasure from drinks with your girls? Could going sober improve your life in many forms? Is balance key?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

  1. Interesting! I definitely get that there are some health-relatived issues with drinking alcohol, however, I do think that a lot of that stems from over-consumption. As does the lack of motivation, not feeling well and eating crap when suffering from a hangover – over-consumption is the reason. So, yeah, Idon’t think you need to go sober completely, but definitely consume alcohol in moderation in my opinion 🙂
