“This season, Sternberg took inspiration from Peter Weir’s 1975 film Picnic at Hanging Rock, a story about the disappearance of a group of schoolgirls on Valentine’s Day in 1900. In the designer’s mind, they pop up in New York City wearing black boat hats with crisp white cotton poplin shirtdresses, navy wool coatdresses with raw edges, striped linen overalls, and dégradé toile du Jouy full apron skirts that fade from blue to black as if they’d been dragged through the streets as the lost girls wander Tenth Avenue.” – VOGUE
