I’m not quite sure if I get the aerobic chic Alexander Wang bra trend so I went to Fred Segal yesterday to investigate further – maybe I had missed something?
After holding the 97% cotton, 3% spandex, $72 racer back bra top, I decided to just accept it for what it was and hope that if Wang can successfully turn the the sports bra into an out of the gym trend then just maybe the spandex thong bodysuit (over leggings) can be next.

Love the shots of HANNELI- she looks awesome and works the utility sporty look so well- The bra’s can look good- on the right physique- and i always love Wang’s collections- but for now i’m sticking with the bags… perhaps the shoes to follow and maybe some basics?!!xxx

Hmm, I think I am definitely missing something here. Bringing crop tops back is one thing but a bra?? It’s a bit Sue-Ellen Mischke.

I’ve never really gotten that sports-bra-thingy. I mean, I love that I can look like someone on my way throwing a baseball with baseball jackets and stuff, but in general: shouldn’t we just leave the sportswear to the ones actually doing sports (with exceptions of course)?
Kind of like saying: “Look at me, I’m all sporty and all, but I’ve actually never done anything remotely sporty”.
I’m not sure about that pricey little number! Totally up for tiny crop tops, but a sports bra seems to be pushing it..

i don’t get it, really. i thing the sports bra is actually something ugly, and should be worn for what its meant. showing lingerie is sexy, but i don’t thing that kind of bras are sexy at all.
Ouch, $72USD for a sports bra? I like the trend, but I think my wallet’s not big enough for it 🙁

I used to wear a sports bra, open flannel shirt (as if it was a cardigan) and boyfriend jeans in ’92 to college parties–I’m not really looking for this look to come back– and definitely not a sports bra that costs that much. This decade the sports bras needs to stay covered under loose tank tops.

At this point in my life, 6 months pregnant, I think the Wang bra top is just what I need. I’ll be sure to document the new look in photos.
In agreement with Brooklynfluff. Love the trend, but not the pricing. A simple hanes sports bra would do the trick. Now, just attaining the washboard abs, that would require more work…

I don’t know why but I’m really into the Wang bra. It reminds me of classic Calvin Klein bras. It just gives a good inspiration for a hard/soft look. But to say the least I wouldn’t walk around the city with just a bra on nor would I spend $72 on a bra…. 🙂
