I clearly have a thing for photographs with ballerinas as subjects. First it was Jose Romussi’s colorburst thread stitched dancers followed by Bob Carey’s Tutu Project then Little Shao’s series of ballerina’s in Paris  and now these great images by Lisa Tomasetti.

Tomasetti captures the elegance of classic ballet positions (the grand jeté and the arabesque penchée) in unexpected environments such as rough street corners, subway stations, and bustling shopping districts around the city streets of Paris, Tokyo, and New York. They’re whimsical and raw at the same time and I just can’t get enough.

More of Tomasetti‘s work here.

  3. These are gorgeous. I've just re-started my ballet journey this year with the goal of dancing en pointe before my 30th birthday. It has got to be one of the most photogenic arts.

  4. Ballet in an urban outdoor setting where you’d think it wouldn’t belong. Beautiful. How do I get the rights to one of these photos if they are copyrighted?
