a peek inside: my closet as seen on the coveteur (!!)

Like many important life events I remember exactly where I was the day that The Coveteur launched. It was as though the internet gds heard my prayers and they were answered by Erin Kleinberg, Stephanie Mark and Jake Rosenberg in January of 2011.

I, like so many, was immediately hooked and followed their site religiously. It was clear that the genius to our new favorite website wasn’t only in their insider access to the best fashion closets, but in their ability to magically integrate clothing into homes. Boots on book shelves? Fancy handbags on stoves? Shoes in the tub? Necklaces on booze? Sure, why not! That was The Coveteur touch.

Having the utmost respect for what Erin, Stephanie and Jake have cultivated, I truly felt honored when they emailed me about shooting my closet. It was like five gold stars, a badge of honor and a compliment by the fashion community. Even though I happen to be pretty private, rarely showing myself on my blog, I happily said yes. Then I did what every person about to get Coveteur’d does: freaked out, cleaned out my closet, went shopping and bought a rug.

The day the shoot came I was incredibly excited and also pretty nervous. I fixed a cheese plate, threw together a floral arrangement, fidgeted with my book shelves and agonized over what I was going to wear up until the very second that they rang my door bell.

They walked in (and took their shoes off which they do at every home) and almost immediately I was at ease. They couldn’t have been any more professional, personable, fun and all around such a good hang.

While the girls rummaged through my closet and Coveteur’d up my mantle/night stand/etc, Jake and I went outside to shoot some headshots. Before I knew it we were all done and everything was back in my closet as though it had never been moved.

Watching their magic in the making was one of those rare and cool experiences that will forever go down as one of my favorite blogger moments.

A BIG thank you to Erin, Stephanie and Jake for the feature. Especially for the kind write up.

More from the shoot on the one and only: The Coveteur.

  2. How fun! Can’t wait to see the entire piece. I just wish they did better photos, though. The exposures are ALWAYS off. I suppose that’s a “style” but I love a good, clear photograph where one actually knows what one’s looking at.

    Anyway…
