Pale and interesting, the Moroccan carpet is a traditional rug that had a place in the lives of some of the world’s most iconic designers. Charles and Ray Eames, Arne Jacobsen and Le Corbusier apparently all had one.

The deep pile shaggy Beni Ouarain carpet is traditionally made by the Berber tribes of the North-Eastern Middle Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Usually heavy cream or white pile with geometric diamond designs, each one unique, each with its own smile lines.

Here are 13 images of beautiful Moroccan rugs in homes, highlighting why they make for an excellent design choice.
