Move over non-yellow-colored lattes! Turmeric lattes, also known as golden milk, are holding court and for good reason. Like what, you ask?
The benefits: powerful anti-inflammatory, potent antioxidant, boosts immunity and brain power, aids in muscle pain relief, helps with digestion, reduces cholesterol, lowers risk of diabetes, helps fight infection, depression, and cancer. And that’s not all. Turmeric, which is part of the ginger family, is an excellent caffeine alternative and the earthy root is a blessing for your skin. It can help reduce blemishes, acne, and redness while preventing wrinkles and retaining moisture. Too good to be true? Not at all! As GOOP says, it’s the secret to great skin inside and out.
So start blending the beautiful yellow potion to live a longer, healthier, better-looking life. Here’s how to make golden milk yourself.
RECIPE: Golden Milk A.K.A. Turmeric Latte
1 cup almond, cashew, or coconut milk (I like switching up the milks but coconut is my favorite)
1 teaspoon dried or finely chopped fresh turmeric
1/2 teaspoon dried ginger or chopped fresh ginger
1 tablespoon coconut sugar (or 1-4 teaspoons honey)
2 teaspoons coconut oil
Pinch of sea salt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash of cinnamon
1. Heat milk with a steamer or in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in coconut sugar (or honey) and vanilla, remove from heat.
2. Add hot milk and all remaining ingredients to a blender, blend until frothy.
