My obsession with nutritional yeast continues! This time on popcorn and MMMMM is it good! Nutritional yeast (I use Bragg’s Organic) is a high-quality source of protein that also contains B vitamins, amino acids and at least 14 minerals and 17 vitamins. It contains folates, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, selenium and zinc, making it a great superfood. Plus, its nutty cheese-like flavor is the perfect culprit to popcorn.
Next time you Netflix and chill, whip this up! I promise it will become your new favorite snack. Here’s how to make it:
Please note: I don’t have a microwave which is why I make the popcorn on the stove, but if you do have a microwave, you can make plain popcorn (ideally non-GMO organic) and simply add the nutritional yeast and butter to the top).
RECIPE: “Cheese” Popcorn
Grab:
1/4 cup organic non-GMO kernels
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tbsp ghee or butter
Nutritional yeast (I use Bragg’s Organic)
Make:
1. In a large heavy pot, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil.
2. Add 1/4 cup kernels and shake occasionally (you’ll hear them popping).
3. In a small sauce pan, melt 1/2 tbsp ghee or butter.
4. Once popcorn is done, pour ghee or butter over the top, sprinkle with sea salt and nutritional yeast (LOTS OF IT!) – shake pot again.
ENJOY!

I love nutritional yeast and have been using for years now, but I have never put it in popcorn since I don’t like popcorn that much to begin with! Maybe I will try it <3
