To say we live in a toxic world is an understatement. With everything from pesticides in our food to pollution in our air, it’s hard to avoid everyday toxins even when you’re diligent about trying to. And believe me, I’m pretty damn diligent!
A lot of these unwanted toxins can end up hanging out in your colon, leading to tiredness and an overall feeling of sluggishness. Although your body was designed to rid itself of toxins naturally, sometimes it can use a little help. And that’s one of the reasons colonics are becoming more and more popular.
After learning more about them a while back, I was immediately curious and started doing some research on them. I quickly realized that a colonic can have some pretty incredible effects on our bodies, including:
- Increased energy
- Better digestion & nutrient absorption
- Kick-starts weight loss
- Improves fertility
Challenge: Get a colonic
After I got my first colonic, I felt like an entirely new person – not even kidding! Of course, eating clean and exercising regularly has always been important to me from a wellness perspective, but after reading (and experiencing) some of the benefits of a colonic, I’m looking forward to making these a regular thing after my pregnancy is over.
I’d highly recommend a colonic to anyone, and can promise that it’s totally worth it – and not as intimidating as it sounds. One major disclaimer, though: if you’re pregnant, be sure to check with your doctor before scheduling one of these, especially early on in the pregnancy.
Have you had one before? Ready to start?

That’s definitely not something I would think of doing without a medical reason… I didn’t even know you could do that without a prescription… Thank you for the tip, it’s really interesting to read about things we don’t normally think about!

I’ve been interested in trying one! Can you suggest somewhere in LA that you’ve liked and would recommend?
Unfortunately The Springs just closed as they were great but check out Body Z Aline or The Gentle Wellness Center, both in Santa Monica.
