  1. so great!
    i organize by type… everything.
like, for jewelry, silver and gold are not together because the metals can get bad, also, felt touching gold and silver requires cleaning more often…

  2. My new obsession for hanging jewelry is using vintage door knobs as hooks. I have all seen spools of thread used for the same thing which turned out pretty cute as well.

  3. Lovely photos! I use a fishing tackle box to keep all my jewelry in order. It’s not very cute but it’s perfect for when I just need to grab something and go cause every piece has it’s own compartment and it’s easy to see. Also, if I need to travel, I can just throw it in my bag and not worry about my necklaces tangling!

  4. I keep all of my jewelry separated in categories – different boxes/dishes for my rings, earrings, bracelets, and then I hang my necklaces on studs that I have up on my wall! Seems to work pretty well, though it’s not the prettiest way to store them. Hopefully I’ll find a better way after scouring the Coveteur!

  5. Nice! I love to hang my jewelry, especially the necklaces 🙂 and I usually organize by type for jewelry, and by color for the clothes 🙂

  6. I have all my cheap and not-so-important jewelry on a serving and my important jewery on a “hand”. ok, so i’m the worst explainer. my clothes are a big, awful mess.
    love ur blog!

  7. After dealing with all of my earrings getting tangled together, I got a bunch of the clear plastic hinged boxes from the Container Store that have divided compartments. It’s made my life so much easier – can see everything and no more time spent de-tangling hoops and chandelier earrings from one another!

  8. closet organizing brings out the merchandiser in me 😉

First, I sort my clothes by type;tanks, tops, long-sleeves, blouse, etc. Then I sort by fabric within that group; cotton, jersey, silk, etc. Next I sort by colour/shades from lightest to darkest and Voila!

I have a jewelry tree and hang all necklaces, bangles and some of my rings. I also have a little dish to keep earrings and other small pieces.

  10. What I like to do is find really cute vintage looking hooks and hang my belts and necklaces on, separately, of course.
Hats are so hard to store, especially so that they wont be forgotten about. For a while, I have been wanting to buy cute mannequin heads to store on a shelf with all my hats.
As for all my clothes, I hang by garment type and color!
Good Luck and I love your collection!

  11. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY THIS POST HAS MADE ME.

there’s just something about seeing things being sectioned off neatly into storage compartments that just makes me breathe again.
(evidently you’re not the only ocd one around here…)

and this has given me slight motivation to do the same! (i’m in the process of revamping my room starting with the ever bursting closet. ugggh.)

  12. Hi! Loooove you r blog. great name, too.

I have two drawers that hold the jewelery I wear most often. Like your collections, everything is in a single layer so I can view all of it at once.

One drawer is only necklaces. Nearly every one is laid horizontally on soft felt. A few live in their origianl cases. In my house, jewelery left out is merely a cat doy waiting to happen.

Another drawer is earrings, rings and necklaces. non precious metals separated from precious to avoid discoloring. I keep most rings in cases, open so I can scan them and see what’s there and what i haven’t yet put back in the drawer. (sometimes they end up floating around in a purse, earrings and bracelets too). Earrings can hang out together. a few smaller, special ones also sit in open boxes like in a jewelery store.

  15. I hang all my earings on a piece of window screen (like the ones you put in your window) and on the outer ends of the scree i put pieces of really cool vintage fabrics from clothes that i found at thrift stores to give it a vintage look and to keep the edges looking clean! For my necklaces I use funky wooden hangers…it actually looks really cool when you hang the funky hangers on the wall. Enjoy.

  16. I hang all of my necklaces and bracelets on either a wooden tie hanger or on hooks in a piece of pegboard in a spray painted frame.

I hang earrings on a wire vase – it keeps them separated and easy to see.

And anything that’s super nice or delicate goes in a jewelry box organized mostly by how well the smaller boxes will fit into it.

My closet is organized by length of the items while on a hanger so that I can store off season things underneath in clear boxes

  17. My jewelry is a disaster, but when it comes to the wardrobe I totally organize the hanging items by color, and I like to “showcase” my shoes and handbags. I also keep another section of inspiration pieces on their own separate rack. This is all past-tense btw, since I currently live out of a suitcase!

  18. I have an Elfa system from the Container store in my closet. So on one side I have a shelf that displays both my jewelry and my perfumes. I try to organize my jewelry as if it were a boutique. Some necklaces hang on a necklace tree or on an Elfa belt hanger. Rings on ceramic/glass hand stands. I also have a smallish open drawer where I store other accessories, but I try to have everything out in the open.

  19. Maybe if you didn’t have that MUCH great stuff, it will help you. I’m sacrificing myself, give it to me and all try to handle the situation. (My gosh, your ring collection just killed me!)

  20. Great post. SO beautiful and interesting to look at! The title “OCD” is a little unfair, it’s a real disorder that effects people. It’s almost just as bad as having a post titled “special ed.” You never know who your audience is or who you may be effecting. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder does not stand for great organizational skills. It tears the person effected apart and makes life extremely difficult. Please consider your audience whenever you post! you never know who could be reading! warm regards, great blog 🙂

  21. I hang the majority of my necklaces on a tie/scarf hanger from IKEA, along with my sunglasses, in plain sight and easy grab. I keep my other jewellery in themed lidded boxes on my widowsill…one for bracelets, one for rings, one for studs, one for dangley earrings.
I wish my jewellery could live together in a drawer, but space is at a premimum!

  22. OMG, tell me how U doing that… 🙂 my is usually in a “litte mess”, however basically I seperate them by style, that’s easier when u choosing accessories to your outfit 🙂

  23. all of my earrings are hung up on a new york souveneir wine glass, i use my dad’s old vintage ash trays to keep my rings in and all of my fancier jewelry is kept in old cigar boxes in a neat corner. necklaces are hung up on my wall on push pins. as for my closet. lol. not organized at all. but this post has been very inspiring ha! xo
