Summer leisure is officially behind us and it’s time to get back to the grind.  From now until Thanksgiving we work our tails off with limited vacation time so it’s important that we take good care of ourselves. Eating well, working out and YOU time is crucial. It’s the key to staying rested, calm and healthy.

Unwinding after a long day can be difficult so for me it’s important that I turn off my ringer and indulge in some serious R&R.  I’ve found that having a couple of little things to pamper myself with goes a really long way. Here’s my unwinding routine:

I like to take a hot shower or bath – if it’s a bath I add a handful of Herbivore Calm Ylang Ylang Vanilla Dead Sea Soaking Salts or Herbivore Botanicals Bath Soak for full aromatherapy and detoxing benefits and if it’s a shower I opt for a coffee body scrub such as the one by Babescrub. While in the bath/shower I try to keep my mind from running so that I can really get a break. When my mind does start wandering I’ve found it really effective to simply remind myself that I am the only one who can control my own thoughts and I redirect my thinking.

Following the bath/shower I like to hydrate and get my blood flowing by massaging Rose Petals, Peony & Bergmot Multi-use oil all over my skin, it’s so incredibly nourishing and smells divine.  If my face is needing a pick me up, the Instant Mask Bar or Herbivore Botanicals Clay Facial Mask can work wonders (it works well on the body too) and while the mask is on my face I like to make a nice pot of tea – I’m currently loving Moon Juice Beauty Dust or Matcha Maiden. Once the tea is ready and the mask has been washed away, I follow up my skincare with a spritz of Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Hydrating Face Mist, a few dabs of eye cream and my favorite moisturizer.  Then I’ll light a fragrant candle or Palo Santo Sticks and spend some time meditating – the amount of time really varies but twenty minutes is always the goal. And then last but not least, I curl up with a good book which I usually fall asleep to. I’m currently reading Aziz Ansari’s Modern Romance to keep things light.

  1. I love the pictures!!! I had a very stressful year but I am learning day by day to unwind. I started this course with one and only Jess Lively “Life with Intentions”, and I recommend it to absolutely everyone who is stuck, needs to remind themselves about core values or just learn something new and gain new perspective.

  2. Nice routine. I usually use a foam bath, a few drops of lavender essential oil and a body scrub that I make at home and I just sit and think about the day that passed.
