A hydrated, dewy look is the holy grail of skincare and something I’m constantly trying to obtain—especially once the cold (fine, suuuper mild) months come during fall and winter. But even us California girls deal with dull, dry skin!

I’m very conscious of how much water I drink and though it helps my skin, I was craving more glow on my face specifically. I’ve been on the hunt for ways to incorporate more hydration into my nightly routine, and am finally happy with how my skin is responding! Here are my current obsessions:

Manuka Honey Tea
By 8 p.m. at night, I’m usually pretty sick of the taste of plain water, so I’ve adopted a tea ritual. I mix hot water + Manuka honey to make this “tea” and love the glow it gives me I wake up. Plus, it’s a delicious treat to end the day.

Face steam
Ahhh, this is so amazing. I combine herbs (whatever I’m feeling, but lately I’ve been adding Marshmallow root inspired by Jurlique’s Water Essence below) in a steaming bowl of water. Then, I place my face over the bowl and drape a towel over my head & bowl. The herbs + steam rise into my pores and I can literally feel the hydration building. I do this for a few minutes, usually while listening to relaxing music or mantras.

Jurlique’s Water Essence
I run through different products, but this one is a favorite. It’s a plant-based water infusion that revitalizes and softens skin. On top of seven botanicals, it has—get this—Marshmallow Root(!) extract grown at the Jurlique farm which actually improves your ability to retain moisture. Genius!

How do you guys deal with hydrating your skin? Any practices or products I need to add? Do share!

  1. Hi Geri,
Where do you listen to your mantras at?
I have been looking for solid examples and I can’t seem to find any. Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. Great tips, thank you. Would like to know how often you steam your face please. I don’t want to over do this so it would be useful to know how often you would recommend this. Many thanks.
