Wellness Challenge: Logging Off Social Media

Now that we’ve cleansed our bodies by adding more nutrients last week, I want to push that even further. My world has been (happily!) consumed by the theme of detox lately, especially after curating the Year of Wellness. I’ve been making detox a priority and am in love with the products from Month 1 of YOW which promote ridding toxins. And those got me thinking about our wellness challenges here on the blog.

My body has been feeling GREAT thanks to YOW, like super clear and my energy is grounded, but I knew I could push my mind further. I wanted to detox the lingering stress in the back of my head and make my days more productive. As I starting thinking about what stresses me out daily, or adds nothing but brain build-up, I kept coming back to social media.

You might notice that I haven’t been posting everyday or even close to it, and that’s because I’ve been logging off from my accounts—often. Sometimes I just need a day to clear my headspace and detox from comparison, comments, and that noise. And you know what? It feels amazing and I have SO much more time in the day. It’s actually kind of mortifying to see how much time I have for other things now that I don’t play on my phone as often.

Here’s where you and the challenge come in! This week, I want you to focus on detoxing that beautiful brain of yours.

Challenge: Log off from ALL social media accounts for one day.

Log off the night before and don’t sign in until the day after; give yourself an entire morning of waking up to a peaceful routine without social media scrolling, and then don’t turn it on at night. Go to bed with a clear mind.

You’ll probably feel a pull to look when you first start this, but I’ve gotten totally used to the practice. I no longer have that constant urge to check social media every free second I get. It’s actually incredibly freeing.

Try it one day this week (or 2 if you’re really feeling it?!) and let me know how it goes!

  1. Funny, haven’t been reading blogs in so long bc of social media all the content on there but today I deactivated my Facebook! Next is Snapchat

  2. Does it really make sense or just sound like the stereotypical sensible thing to do?
I log off for a day, sometimes two and then spend the entire next day catching up!

  3. I never thought of taking time off of social media as a “detox”, love the way you put it! I’ve actually been social media free for quite some time now and it’s awesome for ones wellbeing in so many ways!
