One of my least favorite parts of being an adult is the amount that I see my girlfriends. Between everyone’s schedules, it seems nearly impossible to get enough time together, and when we do, it’s usually for a busy celebration like a wedding, birthday, or shower.
I miss the college days where you spent countless hours just laying around, catching up on life. Anyone else?! Instead of needing to plan elaborate get-togethers to see my friends, I’ve been playing with the idea of simple but fun things to do.
Here are friendship dates that I love & will be setting up ASAP:
Cooking
Taking a cooking class together would be fun, but it’s also hard to schedule and can get costly. Instead, simply invite a friend over to cook. It doesn’t need to be fancy or the best meal you’ve ever made, just enjoy the downtime of prepping, cooking, and chatting! Whoever’s house you’re at can provide the meal and recipe, and the guest can bring the drinks.
Volunteering
I love this idea because it’s good for the soul in two ways: hanging with a friend & helping others. Hit up an animal shelter, soup kitchen, or a retirement home and see what you can do before going in, then enjoy the selflessness together. Park and beach clean-ups would be the perfect time to get a whole group of friends together, too!
Sleepovers
This is definitely something I miss from childhood, and I want to bring them back. Especially during the colder months, invite a couple girls over for some good ol’ fashion hair braiding, nail painting, and a classic friendship movie like Now and Then or Thelma and Louise. Then build a comfy fort and actually sleep/snuggle in the living room together. Fun right?
What’s your favorite thing to do with friends?

I prefer to chat with them – but in reality 🙂

Very nice plans! AT the end, the plan is just an “excuse” to watch them and share time.
Don’t miss today on the blog my new Urban-chic outfit with a very versatile jumpsuit…an a pair of adorable stiletto pumps! 😉

I love the idea of a friendship date, you’re right you do quite often need an excuse to see friends as a grown up which is so sad. Cooking is a great shout, in the summer I’d suggest a picnic but now that it’swinter I’m trying to convince people just to go out on a walk and see something new – it’s so easy to stay inside all day now it’s November.

These are such great ideas. Gives me excuse to spend time with girlfriends I haven’t seen in a while.

“bring back sleepovers”? I never thought they went away! I would totally call over all my girls and have a night in, watch movies, cook while we’re at it… Cute post 🙂
