My November Goals

goals
November 8. Wow. Happy Election Day (who else is feeling anxious?!)!
I’m not sure how it’s November, but there are two months left in 2016 and I fully intend on making the most out of the year of the Clinton-Trump Presidential Election / Drake / Kylie Lip Kits / the Rio de Janeiro Olympics / Snapchat / Wellness everything and dare I say…my husband’s heart attack.

I’m a firm believer that any day is a good day to start new goals, but since I was a little girl I’ve been physically writing annual and bi-annual goals on New Years Eve and July 1 (the 182nd day of the year) respectively. With the end of this year upon us and new goal-writing ahead, I spent time this past weekend reviewing the goals I set last December and July in effort to potentially squeeze in a few more check-marks (I know, I know, I’m basically my own tiger mom). It’s always interesting when reviewing goals, some simply don’t apply, others have been accomplished and plenty are still in progress (ehhh hemmm my clean beauty goal from October).

With that said, my November goals all happen to focus on previous goals (this sounds way too goal-oriented but bare with me) that I’ve set but haven’t fully lived up to:

1. Get a few more of those check-marks.

Like I said before, there are two months left to accomplish the goals that I wanted to tie up in a 12-month period. I can’t expect to check them all, but there are a few that are lingering over my head and I’d like to take the air out of them. I’m sure you have these too. Let’s just knock a few of them out, shall we?

2. Make time for impromptu planning.
Spontaneity! It’s a wild concept for an over-programmed girl like myself, but with the holidays (read: endless obligations) upon us, I want to make time for the things I WANT to be doing. Recently, I vowed to under-schedule (which I wrote about here). I wanted to leave my calendar pretty open to allow me the freedom for what I felt like doing in that given moment, and guess what? I’ve failed miserably. Every morning when I wake up I look at my packed calendar of coffees/meetings/lunch/after-work social obligations/workouts/etc. and I’m sick of it. Must. Change. This.
3. Boost my health.

As a life philosophy, I always try to take good care of myself. I stay on top of my doctor’s appointments, I eat my greens, I get my beauty rest, and exercise the suggested amount. This equation equals good health if and only if I’m on top of it. The second I pull out one of the Jenga pieces, things get a bit unsteady and as of late, this puzzle is coming undone. I’ve been sick with colds, flu’s, and exhaustion for the first time in years and need to piece my health back together again. I think the key to this is accomplishing Goal #2.

What about you? What do you want to accomplish before ringing in 2017?

  1. Oh gosh, how have we found ourselves in November already? 2016 has been one wild and very fast right…I too have been working to add more spontaneity to my life. Last minute plans? Why not. Last minute content post ideas? Let’s do it! Here’s to just going for it.

  2. Haha, girl, I’m with you. I’m a serial list maker and make a bucket list for every season plus an overarching one for my 20 something year of life PLUS even new year goals. It can seem overwhelming, but really it’s fun and a great way to hold myself accountable – to do those things I want to accomplish and also just have a more fun, creative, and intentional life along the way. <3
