My Favorite 5 Teas and Their Benefits
Drinking tea has long been associated with some amazing and positive health benefits, and it’s one of my favorite things to do—truthfully! Isn’t there something totally peaceful about sipping on some hot tea?

No matter your tea preference, the good news is that all types are in some way nutritious. Here are my favorite 5 teas and their benefits on your health and well-being:

Green tea
Wanna know the most commonly associated benefit of drinking green tea? Weight loss! Green tea is famous for it’s ability to boost the metabolism, but it’s also super high in antioxidants. I personally love drinking a cup of matcha green tea in the afternoon or after a meal. It boasts 10x the antioxidants as one cup of normal green tea and can majorly help with digestion. Matcha comes in powder form, and can easily be made into a latte by adding some steamed almond or soy milk. Mmmm!

White tea
This powerful tea can help with everything from preventing cancer and cardiovascular disorders to improving oral health. Since white tea is the least processed, it retains the most antioxidants compared to the other types. The high levels of antioxidants help with maintaining healthy skin and protecting your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. This blend is such a winner.

Black tea
When I notice my coffee addiction is getting outta control, I’ll switch it up with black tea. It gives me the same energy boost as a cup of Joe, but without the not-so-pleasant side effects (coffee shakes anyone?!). Black tea is still full of antioxidants, but because it’s processed more than any of the other teas, it just doesn’t have as many health benefits.

Herbal tea
Depending on which herbal tea you drink, it can help with nausea, colds, indigestion, stress, sleep disorders….pretty much everything. My favorites are ginger (great for tummy upsets), chamomile (helps with falling asleep), and lemon balm (sooo amazing for stress-relief).

Oolong tea
Oolong tea tastes yummy and has a pretty decent amount of caffeine, so it’s great for improving thinking skills and increasing mental alertness. Other benefits? Prevention of cancer, tooth decay, osteoporosis, and heart disease. All of these benefits can be attributed to the high polyphenol (a type of antioxidant) content in oolong. Drink up!
