This week, I want to make the challenge extremely simple, so I’ll get right to the point: Sleeping on a cotton pillowcase is not ideal. Not only can it cause allergens from the material, but it’s also tough on your skin + hair. And for the amount of time we put our face and hair into contact with our pillowcases, we should be using something that’s not harmful, no?
You know how after sleeping you can see the lines on your face from a cotton pillowcase? Over time, the creases formed by cotton eventually sink into your skin and will stay put. Bottom line is, cotton cases are doing you no favors whatsoever.
Challenge: Switch to a silk pillowcase
How easy is that? I personally love this one, and even travel with it now.
The natural properties of silk aren’t rough on your hair and can lead to less split ends, static, and breakage. Silk also helps blowouts last longer!
Skin wise, sleeping on silk can prevent redness or rosacea because it’s less abrasive vs. cotton and it’s hypoallergenic. Silk also helps to keep your skin hydrated since it absorbs less moisture. And again, LESS WRINKLES people.
Plus, it feels super lux. Even more reason to get proper shut-eye!
How easy of a challenge is that?

I think I really have to try it one time, although I don’t like silk!

I’d love to switch to silk myself, but the prices keep me a bit reserved!

I’ve been thinking about trying a silk pillowcase for a while… need to get one!
Loving the idea of a Wellness Challenge! I have had silk/satin pillowcases in my amazon basket for at least a year now without having purchased them… maybe once we get the new pillows I want, I will get the pillowcases too!

Hey Geri! I have the same pillow case but I’m wondering… how are you washing yours? I’ve heard some horror stories about people washing there’s and then they fall apart… and I definitely don’t want to dry clean them.
Thanks!
I use it as well! does wonder to my hair :p

I’m going to be very honest, I just feel like your sweat 10x times more on silk than on cotton and that grosses me out a little :/

I love sleeping on silk. Make sure it’s Mulberry silk and at least 19 momme for the best quality for your skin!

I bought a silk pillowcase about a year ago and wow what a change it’s made! Even if it doesn’t make a change in your hair or face (which it does) it’s so luxurious to sleep on. Would totally recommend for people to invest in one

I am a bit reserved because the summer is not friendly and my skin is oily.
Does Anyone has this experience?
I absolutely love my silk pillowcase from Manito Silk! I wish I would have known years ago that sleeping on a silk pillowcase would have made such a difference in aging gracefully.
Really, Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can help your skin stay healthy and smooth and can help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. So, we should try sleeping on a silk pillowcase for an adorable face and shiny & frizz-free hair.
