This week’s challenge is one that I’m really excited about simply because it feels soo good. I’m talking about grounding (and no, not the punishment type of grounding that filled our childhoods!).
I’m about to get scientific on you guys, but just for a sec. To break it down really simply, grounding or earthing is the removal of built-up positive electrons from the body by making direct contact with the earth. The earth, whether it’s water, sand or soil, is a conductive material that removes excess positive electrons from the body.
Our bodies get filled with these positive electrons from the constant presence of electromagnetic waves from wifi, cell phones, and computer aka things we use on the reg! Eeeek!
And when does the average human ever have direct contact with the earth to balance these electrons out? Definitely not often enough.
Challenge: Start grounding
The list of benefits is (you guessed it) LONG. Here are a few:
- Reducing inflammation by defusing excess positive electrons
- Reducing chronic pain
- Increasing Energy
- Lowering stress and promoting calmness by reducing stress hormones.
- Normalizing biological rhythms including circadian rhythm
- Improving blood pressure and blood flow
- Relieving muscle tension and headache
- Lessens menstrual and female hormone symptoms
The best and most natural way to ground yourself is to walk around barefoot outside as much as possible (think the beach, grass, soil). You just need to give your body that direct contact with the earth.
There’s no set amount of time that you should ground yourself and then expect to see results—it’s really different for all based on the info that I’ve read. I’m personally shooting for a couple times a week, especially to start while the weather warms up!
And doesn’t the idea of walking barefoot on the grass or sand sound sooo relaxing? Enjoy!

I hope that’s possible in the city where I live (Hong Kong). Here, even our beaches can be polluted and filled with trash!

Love that jumpsuit! I would love to walk outside with bare feet, however, you have to consider the risk of stepping on sharp objects and get infected as well, no fun 🙁
