4 Books to Provide Motivation

I don’t know if it’s just me, but September always feels like a second start—or maybe a restart—to the year. It probably dates back to returning to school or the start of fall, but it’s always a sacred month for me. Time to wash away the business of summer and get back into the basics of living a happy life. So as summer winds down and motivation seems to rise, I’ve been reading a few awesome books. The 4 below have made me excited for life (as corny as it sounds) and provided fresh thoughts and ideas. Enjoy!

The Woman I Wanted to Be, by Diane Von Furstenberg
Her journey to a fashion powerhouse is not only interesting, but empowering. I love how raw and honest she is in this book, and she truly makes me want to be a better woman. Allllll the girl power!

The 4-Hour Workweek, by Tim Ferriss
My goal for my future? Make a similar income but work much less. 4 hours probably won’t be doable for me, nor do I want that, but I did appreciate the ideas in this book. Such good lessons on batching processes, monetizing in unique ways, and in general, not being chained to your desk.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k, by Mark Manson
There’s a similarly-titled book that I actually wrote about last year (which I also enjoyed), but this one has got to be one of my favorite books EVER. I gave it to my dad and he said the same thing. The author makes such smart, basic points about living how you want and not worrying about the rest. I’ve made serious changes in my life since reading. So motivational!

The Miracle Morning, by Hal Elrod
OK, the name and cover of this book is pretty laughable, but the insides are good. As someone whose morning routine went out the window this summer, this book makes me excited to get back on track—in an even better way. Trust me and read it.

  1. These are awesome recommendations! The Miracle Morning is a book I’ve heard loads of good things about, and I’m not sure I’d be able to stick to some of the things Elrod suggests but I’m sure they would make for a much more productive morning! Maybe one day, haha!

  2. If you are interested in motivation you should check out Hack Your Motivation. Unlike Manson’s book this one is based on science and not designed to make you feel good. Instead, HYM gives you science-based strategies designed to optimize your life and performance.
