There’s been lots of buzz about CBD oil in the wellness world, so I thought I’d dedicate a LIVE WELL post to digging in a little on the topic.
To give some background, CBD, or more formally, cannabidiol is not a psychoactive compound like THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the compound found in marijuana that makes a person feel “high.” And even though CBD is not psychoactive, it can still get a bad rap from some for simply being a compound of the marijuana plant. In reality, though, it’s actually an amazing natural healing tool that has several health benefits and applications.
Some of the most common benefits include:
- Pain relief
- Could help to reduce anxiety and depression
- Aids with insomnia
- Can help treat symptoms related to cancer and cancer treatments
- Acts as an anti-inflammatory and helps with acne
I’ve made a point in my life to be more aware of natural alternatives instead of racing to get on an antibiotic every time I’m sick. Of course, you should visit with your doctor before making any changes to your health regiment, but CBD oil has definitely earned a spot in the conversation, in my opinion.
Would love to hear from anyone who has incorporated CBD oil into their wellness routine and how it worked for you!

I’ve never tried it, but I’m seeing it more and more available. I was recently in Lake Como, Italy and in that region every pharmacy/chemist had a sign saying they sold the oil. Might be worth giving it a try.
I have super heavy period cramps, almost blackout-ones, they hit me like a brick. wanted to try cbd oil for pain relief instead of wolfing down painkillers. I got the 20% oil for 99€ and tried 2-3 drops at first, and I was shocked because it WORKED. what I like about it is that I can control the dose a bit more, depends of course if I’m in pain on my couch or in the office, obviously! it also helps to calm down and sleep well, similar to lavender or valerian, but that’s just too expensive for me tbh!
I haven’t used it, but I am curious as to how do I determine quality. I have anxiety and so for ashwagandha is helping, but I think including CBD oil would help me further.

I don’t really have a “miracle cure” type of story when it comes to CBD oil, but it does help me sleep better than anything else ever has. I haven’t had to take a real sleeping pill in months, which is amazing.
