Is It Possible To Have Balance As A Mom?

A few weeks ago I spoke on a panel alongside Whitney Port and Lauren Gores all about motherhood. One of the questions, which seems to always be a big topic, was “how do you balance life as a mom?”

Funny enough, we all had the same answer which was that there really isn’t a whole lot of balance as a mom. You simply get comfortable in the imbalance.

Do any of you moms out there NOT feel this way? If so, I’d love to learn more about how you balance it all. Please spill your secrets!

  1. I feel like I have no balance and felt guilty about it. All I do is work and tend to my children. Thank you for this.

  2. I think balance is different for everyone! I feel most “balanced” when I have a mixture of work, play, baby time, and me time. That usually looks like a short workout, a couple moments to myself, time with bebe and time with my husband. I feel most accomplished when I get a taste of all those things in one week! xx

  3. My boss gave me really good advice when she said sometimes you will feel like an amazing mom and a shitty employee and sometimesyou will feel like you’re kicking butt at work and totally dropping the ball at home. And you just have to be ok w it. It really helped me put things in perspective!

  4. I’m fortunate to only work 4 days a week, and I’m at home with my 2 year old twins on my own two days, and have help with them on one day. Balance is not something I feel I have. It’s non-stop and I am perpetually tired. My job is very mentally demanding and due to tiredness I don’t feel I’m doing my best work. It is getting slightly easier as my boys get older. I think we just have to remember that we are all trying our best, that sometimes work slides and sometimes we don’t get to give our kids the attention they need. It will get easier with time and the most important thing is to be gentle with ourselves, and ask for help when we’re really struggling.
