How I Got My Small Business Taxes Done This Year

As you guys probably know, I started this blog in 2005 as a creative outlet while working at a demanding full-time job. And over the past 16 years, this has become so much more than that. I have absolutely loved building this community and having the opportunity to share my love of beauty, wellness and lifestyle with you guys.

But, let’s be honest; I didn’t start a business because of my burning passion for taxes, bookkeeping and payroll. Especially the taxes! So this tax season, I used Block Advisors, a team within H&R Block, to take care of alllll the financial tasks surrounding my taxes – something any small business owner will tell you is a total headache when you’re trying to do it solo. It was a life saver for me because between packing up for our move, being with our girls during a pandemic, Saie, and LIFE, the past year was a lot. The last thing I had time or mental space for was doing my taxes on my own so working with Block Advisors was a major life-savor, not to mention very efficient with how busy life feels.

Block Advisors tax pros work directly with small businesses and are dedicated to meeting the tax, bookkeeping and payroll needs of small business owners year-round, so while they can help with your taxes now, they can actually help guide you through financial decisions 365 days a year. I honestly wish I had this even more when I first started BIA because it can be a nightmare trying to figure out all the finances behind a small biz. I can literally remember trying to Google everythinggg and getting mixed answers depending on which site or friend I asked.

Start to finish, the entire experience with my Block Advisors tax pro, Darlene, felt easy and personal. It started off with a quick call then I uploaded my financial documents online and boom – she did the rest! All of their small business certified tax pros have an average of 12 years’ tax experience and are fully up-to-date on all local, state and federal tax laws so it was also really helpful for lingering questions I had.

So if you can’t tell by now, my advice for any small biz owner out there, especially those of you attempting to balance all things life right now, is to delegate and get help! Major stress relief and I’m grateful for any version of that right now. And I can’t recommend Block Advisors enough!

Quick reminder that the tax filing deadline is April 15, but I definitely suggest getting your taxes out of the way or at least starting ASAP!
