If you follow me on snap (@gerihirsch) you know that I’ve been trying to find balance in my morning wellness routine (ooohhhh the irony!). You see, two weeks ago I took a meditation class (TM) which was incredible (a post coming on that later) BUT the additional twenty minutes every morning has made my wellness routine a little…well…ridiculous.  Between hot water with lemon, skin brushing, setting my intentions, a smoothie, wellness shots and now the meditation, there simply isn’t enough time and it’s actually becoming stressful which is the opposite of what wellness is all about.

Finding balance is combination of moving things around (I now skin brush at night) and finding ways to save time which leads me to smoothie cubes. In attempt to cut down the time it takes to whip up a smoothie in the morning, I experimented with the idea of freezing smoothies in eye cube trays (hence smoothie cubes) and it works like a charm! Here’s how to make them:

1. Make an extra large batch of your regular smoothie (get a little inspo from these recipes here).
2. Pour smoothie into ice-cube trays and freeze.
3. When ready to make a smoothie, pop out 5-8 cubes and top with 1/2 – 1 cup almond milk/coconut water/liquid of choice then blend until smooth.

ENJOY!

  1. What a great idea! When you say “smoothie mixture” is it just fruit and water? And you add more liquid later to blend it up?
