If you guys missed my PSA on this on Insta Stories a couple weeks ago, I’m here to tell you about the power of muting. Yes – if you had no idea, you can literally mute or essentially hide people you follow’s Instagram posts or stories from your feed. You don’t have to unfollow them and they’ll never know, so there aren’t feelings involved like unfollowing.
I did this a couple weeks ago to anyone who annoyed me (just being honest) or that I didn’t feel good seeing stories/posts of day after day. Whether they caused FOMO, eye rolls, or I just wasn’t into it, it felt incredibly liberating doing so. I’ve never liked the unfollow rule, as that can hurt feelings and relationships, but sometimes, you don’t want/need to see every post or story.
The best part is you can mute or unmute at any time. So if your feed is feeling too full, start muting. If you’re ready to let certain accounts back into your lineup, unmute.
It takes a second to do the muting, so let me explain how to do it:
1. Go to someone’s profile on Instagram and tap on the three little dots at the very top right.
2. Hit “mute” and then choose whether you want to mute their posts, stories, or both.
Once selected, you will no longer see that person’s information that you chose not to.
Just keep following me, k? Kiddingggg. Not kidding!
