If there’s one pattern I try to keep constant in my diet, it’s including fresh squeezed juice as many times per week as possible. Juicing is time consuming and has the ability to get pretty expensive, which is why I love simple recipes that get right to the point. That’s why this Kale, Spinach and Apple juice is a favorite of mine. Short, sweet and chock-full of every nutrient I’m looking for.
Kale is a great detox food; high in iron, antioxidants, calcium, vitamins A, C and K. Spinach is high in potassium, iron and surprisingly a fairly good source of protein. The apple helps keep this juice tasting good with a bit of natural sweetness, and is a good source of fiber from the skin. I personally like adding a squeeze of lemon to gain some alkalizing benefits as well, but that’s optional. All of these vitamins and minerals come together to help with cardiovascular health, skin, hair and bone health, plus it’s a great energy boost.
Needless to say, what’s not to love?
– 1.5 apples, sliced
– 3 small bunches of spinach
– 1 small bunch of kale
– Lemon, optional
1. Juice the apple, spinach and kale (according to any special instructions on your juicer)
2. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon over it (lemon can be strong so don’t juice the whole lemon before tasting the juice!)
3. Stir, and ENJOY!
