Tis the season! But what to wear? And what should I eat to stay slim throughout?
I have 4 rules I like to stick to in effort to avoid holiday outfit stress and weight gain:
1. SPANX and sparkle. Always wear a good pair of SPANX (my personal favorite item is the Trust Your Thinstincts Camisole) and a little bit of sparkle to a holiday party. SPANX will keep you feeling your absolute best and the sparkle will make you feel festive. Case in point, this outfit I wore to a recent holiday party. I started with my SPANX cami because I wear it under everything. It has a flattering sweeping neckline and it’s super thin, sleek fabric slims my tummy and love handles. Then I added a pair of sparkley Isabel Marant for H&M pants (interchangeable with a sequin skirt or shorts) and the rest is pretty simple: black button up, cool necklace, snazzy clutch and a good moto jacket.
2. Curb the booze. Be careful of your alcohol intake, drinking your calories can really pack on the pounds, so try to stick to one or two drinks. If you’re like me and like to hold a drink while at parties, sort of like a security blanket, try sipping on glasses of sparkling water in-between alcoholic beverages. It can really help curb your appetite for additional cocktails.
3. Make wise food choices. Before I go any further I MUST say that it’s important to indulge. I haven’t met a warmed baked brie that I haven’t fallen in love with and it’s pretty much impossible to pass up a glass of bubbly – allow yourself those pleasures (espeically if you already have your SPANX on!) but maintain a healthy balance. When it comes to foods choices at the parties keep an eye out for these top 8 flat belly-friendly foods: (1) Spinach, (2) Kale, (3) Eggs, (4) Salmon, (5) Beans, 6) Nut Butters [like almond & walnut], (7) Apples, (8) Avocados. It’s no surprise that all of the ingredients are super high in protein, fiber and healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Not only are all of these ingredients great for obtaining that flat belly, but they’re beneficial for cardiovascular health, bone health and much more.
4. Move your body! It’s easy to get lazy and slack on your workout regimen during the holidays but DON’T. Simply getting up and taking a walk makes a difference. Just remember, champagne, cheese and then cardio!
I’m wearing: Trust Your Thinstincts Camisole, Everlane silk round collar blouse, DYLANLEX Harper necklace, AllSaints Balfern leather jacket, Isabel Marant for H&M pants, vintage clutch and Isabel Marant Gatsy zebra-print suede pumps

Love your outfit. I don’t think I’d have the confidence to wear those pants but they look great on you!
Fantastically chic. I adore the sparkling trousers. They definitely make a statement. Warding off booze will help curb pounds, that’s for sure! :] // ▲ itsCarmen.com ▲

2. These tips are GREAT.
3. More outfits NOW!
Those are some seriously helpful tips! 🙂 I have to admit aside from New Year, I love reaching for loose fitting clothing to avoid the discomfort of feeling bloated or over eating, although I’ve been pretty good at avoiding both so far this holiday season.

Thank you for those tips! If I may add something: tell the hosts that you’d like to try a bit of everything, because it all looks so delicious. It’s a perfect excuse for taking smaller portions. People will understand and trust me, no one will really notice how much you eat. I’m saying that because I usually overeat not because I really want to, but because I feel the pressure (I’m rather thin so people almost force me to eat more :D).
Have fun during holiday season!
