Wellness Challenge: Personal Day

First off, this challenge might be a little easier for me since I work for myself and don’t have a boss breathing down my neck, but I’m so passionate about personal days that I had to write about it. Also, I know a lot of companies are following suit and actually promoting “personal” or “mental health” days, along with the regular sick days, which is awesome. Either way, you gotta make it happen, k?

Challenge: Take a Personal Day

Whether you need to tell a harmless white lie and take a “sick” day (I won’t tell if you don’t!), or if you can be honest with your boss, I’m challenging you to take a personal day this December. So often we rush through the weeks (or months) on auto-pilot, without taking the proper time to focus internally. And with weekends just as busy as weekdays, often it’s hard to even find the time to have a you day. I get it!

Which is why I’m a huge fan of taking a personal day a couple times of year. It’s something I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember, actually. A day to lay in bed and watch TV, to have a long workout, to make a big healthy meal, to catch up with your parents on the phone – whatever. It’s just important to make it feel good to you and no one else. Do what you actually enjoy doing, and save tasks and chores for another day – there’s no room for that today.

December is actually a perfect time to do it, too. It’s a break from holiday madness, and I’ve always liked doing one here to prep for the next year while reflecting on the current one. It’s a day to play catch up on what fuels your soul, to rest, or to fill it to the brim with self-care (if that makes you happy!). Whatever it is, ENJOY!

So, are you planning your day yet??

  1. I’m a huge fan of personal/mental health days. It’s so, so important to have a day to focus on yourself and just focus on yourself, which is not something that you always get to do on the weekend. I’m looking forward to making an effort to implement this wellness challenge into my routine.

  2. I couldn’t agree with you more. Everyone deserves a break and a day to do what makes their hearts happy! It’s refreshing to see someone who openly talks about needing a break once and a while, so thank you! I will be taking one of those days shortly myself.
