Protein powders can get a bad rep and for good reason. Earlier this year, a nonprofit group called the Clean Label Project released a report about toxins in protein powders. Researchers screened 134 products for 130 types of toxins and found that many protein powders contain heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury), bisphenol-A (BPA, which is used to make plastic), pesticides, or other contaminants with links to cancer and other health conditions. Not to mention added sugar, artificial flavoring, thickeners, etc. Eeeeeek!
So, what is one to do if they love a good smoothie in the morning? Use a good, clean, powder made of real ingredients. Here is a list of healthy protein powders:

Thanks for the great info…and doing the footwork.
I love how peas have rebranded themselves into something less gross! The protein powder I drink is made out of peas and honestly, it’s the only way I can tolerate them!
