My Favorite LA Healthy Lunch Spots

Ohhh Los Angels! The land of palm trees, juice bars, workout studios and health nuts! But where does one actually go for quick and healthy meals? Here are some of my personal favorites when it comes to lunch spots:

Erewhon
Take one look at my credit card statement and it’s clear that Erewhon is my most frequented haunt in LA. It’s a grocery store but so much more than that! My girlfriends and I joke that it’s our cafeteria and we all meet up there just about every single day. Not exaggerating.

They run an excellent juice bar right from the very center of the store which not only has juices, wellness shots and a wide variety of incredible smoothies, but one of the best bulletproof coffees in town. Not to mention pitaya bowls and probiotic ice cream that will rock your world (and bank account to the tune of $22.). They also have an incredible organic prepared food section complete with hot and cold food that is all EXCELLENT. It caters to the various dietary needs including vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc. As far as the grocery portion, the vitamin section is the best in town but everything in there is wildly expensive. I try to only buy the things that I can only get there, then get the rest from Whole Foods (yes, it’s more expensive than Whole Foods).

You’re likely to find me there getting a smoothie for breakfast, the macrobiotic pre-packed salad for lunch, and a three-veggie plate combo for dinner (with a small container of organic coconut rice pudding). On weekends, the vegan burrito is my jam. See ya there!

M Café
Organic, clean eats can be found at this macrobiotic (food without refined sugars, eggs, dairy, red meat, or poultry) cafe that has three LA locations: Melrose, Beverly Hills & Brentwood. This is one of my go-to’s when I need to pick up a healthy lunch or dinner. The menu is extensive and they’re patient with dietary questions (they keep a book full of every ingredient at the cash register and I’ve witness 20 minute conversations to accommodate some people’s needs). They also have wonderful prepared salads (the peanut kale is my favorite), delicious sushi and make fresh juices. It’s not one of the most Instagrammable healthy spots, but does that even matter?

Honey Hi
If you’re on the east side looking for a delicious, nutrient-dense packed bowl, this is the spot! Owned and operated by two best friends (one of whom is a nutritionist), expect to find a menu full of the type of food you wish you ate more often: gluten-free, refined sugar-free, GMO-free, and seriously satisfying.

The Springs THIS IS NOW CLOSED – SIGH!
The first time I heard about this place it was in reference to their wellness center. More specifically, their colonics, which are apparently one of the best in town but I have yet to try). I genuinely went for the food as I heard their offering of clean eats was a 10/10, and that it was! They make beautiful bowls, salads, toasts and anything else your healthy heart may dream of. Horchatte and yoga classes included.

Some other good stops: Flower Child in Santa Monica & Kye’s in Santa Monica.

  1. You must be doing pretty well if you’re shopping at Erewhon and Whole Foods 😉 I’m still slumming it at Ralph’s and Trader Joe’s. Love this list – will definitely be bookmarking these for the next time someone asks to do lunch.
