Is everyone energized off bee pollen from last week’s challenge? I hope so, because you’re about to need it.
This week, I want to talk fitness. I’m a big believer in A. Finding workouts that you love (so that you’ll keep doing them) and B. Trying new things. It might sound contradictory, but hear me out.
I’ve found that I not only enjoy—but stick to—bodyweight exercise with a trainer, cycling, and hiking. BUT, I also throw in fun workouts like dance classes, yoga, or my newest obsession, boxing! When my trainer first made me throw on gloves, I was completely freaked out. I’m petite and not the most intense person, but quickly fell in love with how strong boxing made me feel!
The point is, yes it’s crucial to find your go-to workout to do most of the week, but it’s great for your body and brain to get confused as well. Instead of your muscles (and mind) going through a routine that they’re used to, you’ll force them to work harder by doing something new. Plus, you might find your new favorite workout like I did. This week, step out of the box!
Challenge: Try a new fitness class or workout this week.
You have seven days to incorporate something different this week; it’s totally doable! Even if you’re out of your comfort zone, just try your best and own it. I probably look like a fool taking hip hop classes, but it’s super fun and works my body good. You have to remember that no one is paying as much attention to you as you are, and that the people there are also doing their own thing!
I like to use ClassPass (not sponsored!) for checking out new classes, and a lot of gyms will let you try out a class for free if it’s your first. Or, use your computer and YouTube for endless fitness videos—all from the comfort of your living room.
Please let me know what you’re going to try, or better yet, tried! You can do it.
